Packing for Camp NaNoWriMo

Let's see, I need bug spray, stationery for writing letters home, extra socks, sunblock, a hat...

Yes, I'm packing for Camp NaNoWriMo, and I'll be hunkered down with my Alphasmart Neo for all of June. Things will be quiet on the blog as I hammer out my words. If I hit 50K, I also should hit "The End" on this romance novel draft. Extra motivation!

Have a great June! If you'd like to join me in the writing fun, I'll be on Twitter participating in #500in300 and #1k1hr to get that word count up.

And the winner is...

June Kramin

:tosses confetti and blows party horns:

Congratulations, June! I'll contact you to see which book you would like.

To everyone who shared their summer plans, thank you for stopping by and commenting. Have a lovely summer, and happy reading!

Musa Memorial Day Weekend Blog Hop!

Memorial Day marks the start of summer, and what better way to prepare for summer than load up your e-reader with some fantastic books? To kick off your book shopping, check out the blogs on Musa Publishing's Memorial Day Weekend Blog Hop! My fellow Musa authors and I are linking blogs over the long weekend to help you discover new authors and revisit old favorites. Each of us will be hosting our own giveaways, so the more blogs you visit, the more chances you have to win. Also, if you'd like to stay up to date on new blog posts, new releases, and general goings-on, you can Like my Facebook author page and/or follow me on Twitter.

My summer plans are pretty sedate as usual. The one trip I have planned is a relay with 11 of my friends: we're running Ragnar Wasatch Back, which is a 200-mile relay from Park City to Logan, UT. We split the distance among the 12 of us and run all day and night for 30-ish hours. It sounds grueling (and parts of it are), but it's really like one big rolling slumber party. We decorate the vans with markers and Christmas lights, decorate ourselves with lights (including fiberoptic hair extensions!), and act like goofballs.

Other than that, I plan to do a lot of writing. I want to finish my current romance novel project and get it submission-ready by fall. That's faster than my normal pace, but it's time to turn on the jets to turn off the inner critic. I even signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo (eek!) to give me a much-needed shove. For me, writing too slowly drains the life out of my story. I find my writing quality improves if I write at a quicker pace because I stop being self-conscious and start paying closer attention to my characters. We'll see how this experiment goes!

For a chance to win any book from my list, leave a comment sharing your summer plans. Please comment before midnight (Eastern time), Monday, May 28. I'll announce the winner on Tuesday, May 29. If you win, may I suggest my latest release, NEVER LET GO?

Also FYI: Musa will send a free issue of Penumbra magazine as a thank you gift to anyone serving overseas in the military. Check out the Penumbra eZine blog for more details.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend, and don't forget to spend some time remembering all the brave men and women who've fought for our country.

Going quiet for a bit

The blog will be rather quiet for the next few months as I hunker down on my current novel project. I'll still be posting here and there, but less often than normal. Please keep in touch with me on Twitter, especially to tell me to get back to work!
